At Alexandria Montessori School, we use a wide range of materials to provide learning experiences for students. These include a full range of materials developed by Dr. Montessori. The materials we use are designed to:

1. Provide the student with a sensorial introduction to new concepts so that the student's initial experience is a very concrete one.

2. Capture the active imagination of the elementary student.

3. Provide for more independent learning by being designed as much as possible to be self-correcting.

In addition to the Montessori materials, we use a variety of other media: teacher made materials, books, educational games, tapes, films, computers, videos, and other contemporary instructional materials. Also, there are specialized materials available for music and art education.
